July 01, 2009 Mid-Missouri School Receives Grant Recently, Blackwater R-II School was awarded the Educational Ethyl Grant in the amount of $2,500 from Otelco Mid-Missouri and the Foundation for Rural Education and Development.
Blackwater R-II School is a small, rural school in Mid-Missouri with a student population of 125 students preschool to eighth grade during the 2008/2009 school year. Funds from the grant will be used to add Smart Board (interactive white board) technology into the classrooms. This technology will allow students to involve themselves in their own learning. The whole class will not only be able to see, but touch and learn, providing a whole new dimension to their education.
Otelco Mid-Missouri understands that a progressive, supported local school system is vital to the rural community and without them communities will fail. "It is with our strong support and belief in Blackwater R-II School District that Oteclo Mid-Missouri has made the commitment to match the Educational Ethyl Grant awarded to the School", says Amy Jackson, Otelco Mid-Missouri Director of Marketing.
